📋 Role Overview & Responsibilities

The Information Literacy Concierge will actively greet and assist students and community members within the Digital Express, assess their individual needs and assist them with navigating to personalized direct points of service on campus or in the community. The Information Literacy Concierge will provide programming aimed at reducing the digital divide to students and community members within the Digital Express.

Responsibilities1. Assists students with orienting to college resources and tools, such as the MyWay Portal and MyHub. Assist community members in orientation to technology, such as internet browsers or home-based tech.2. Collaborates with faculty to offer workshops and class presentations on library resources, research strategies, and information literacy skills. Takes the lead in delivering outreach efforts designed to promote the Digital Express and encourage use of the resources, programs, and services available to faculty and students via classroom presentations.3. Assists students with registration and/or student planning.4. Handles intra-campus, interlibrary loan, and reserve requests.5. Familiarity with community and MCC college resources and comfortable sharing information regarding resources when and as appropriate.6. Produces and maintains various Digital Express records and reports.7. Stays current with developments in the Digital Literacy and information technology fields as well as awareness and flexibility in learning about emerging technologies. Assists with preparing and updating procedures manual for all aspects of position.8. Assists with research assignments (both in person and remotely) by actively assessing information needs, directing to appropriate resources, and providing instruction in the use of all reference and information technology resources and tools contained within MCC and the Digital Express.9. Collaborates as a DE Staff member to create and offer workshops appropriate for the DE.10. Assists faculty with Open Educational Resources (OER) initiatives.11. Provides circulation services, check materials in and out, create and update patron records.12. Greets and assists students and community members who enter the Digital Express, while assisting in maintaining a supportive and inclusive learning environment.13. Answers telephones, transfer calls appropriately, and sets appointments.14. Listen and respond to student and community member issues to find solutions by problem-solving and/or referring to other college departments and off campus community resources as needed.15. Stays abreast of multiple sources of detailed information and schedules of activities in the building including tours, workshops and classes and assists with organization of on-site activities.16. Ensures proper security when opening and closing Digital Express and/or Building #10.17. Performs cashier functions and duties, including receiving and posting payments and deposits.18. Attend work activities or programs as scheduled or assigned.

Ability to provide support for students, bridging their classroom learning by assisting with the location of learning materials, resources and equipment.13. Knowledge of library practices.14. Knowledge of college-wide functions, particularly student affairs, financial aid, academic affairs, Knowledge academic records, enrollment services, etc.15. Knowledge of CRM systems or ability to learn.16. Desire to learn and grow within this position and to make it your own.17. Ability to occasionally extent exert up to 20 pounds of force to lift, push, carry, pull or otherwise move objects.

QualificationsRequired: Associates degree with one (1) years of direct customer service experience working in a fast-paced, service-orientated environment. Equivalent combination of education and/or work experience will be considered.Preferred: Experience in an Educational, Library or Social Services setting. Proficiency in English; multilingual (Spanish helpful).

Physical Demands: Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds at times.

Hourly Rate: $18.51 (Work 28 hrs/week; Vacation & sick pay; Saturday hours with flex time off during the week)
