📋 Role Overview & Responsibilities

This position requires acceptable performance evaluations for the past three years, if applicable. You can upload these evaluations to your candidate profile. Our office will email form #3506 (reference evaluation) to the supervisor. Following the application deadline, a screening committee will review the applications. CONFERRED TRANSCRIPTS WITH A GRADUATION DATE: Current M-DCPS employees do not need to submit official transcripts if highest degree earned is on file in the Office of Personnel Records (305-995-7258). For non-employees of M-DCPS, official transcripts will be required if you are recommended for the position. Your degree must be from an accredited university. If position does not require a college degree, you are required to have at least a high school diploma. Applicants with academic training and degrees granted outside the U.S. must submit a credential evaluation report from an agency approved by Florida Department of Education that includes a statement of degree equivalency.

Occupational Summary

Responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing the design of specified maintenance construction projects performed by District personnel and/or vendors on Board-owned and leased educational and ancillary facilities.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES

Coordinates and is responsible for overseeing the design, inspection, renovation, and remodeling of maintenance/construction activities of Board-owned and leased educational and ancillary facilities. Identifies facilities discrepancies and needs related to the physical plans, and assists in the planning, scheduling, execution, and monitoring of corrective actions. Evaluates actions performed by contractor and District personnel and ensures compliance with regulations, procedures, and specifications. Participates in conflict resolution, including recommending corrective and/or disciplinary actions. Keeps current with, and have a working knowledge of, federal, State, and local laws and regulations that impact the occupancy, maintenance, design and construction of educational and ancillary facilities. Uses electronic databases and spreadsheet software programs in order to create, maintain, review, analyze and evaluate information for reports to be used by various administrative levels and departments throughout the District. Performs other duties related to the general administrative responsibilities of the position.

Physical Requirements

This work requires the following physical activities: climbing, bending, stooping, kneeling, twisting, reaching, sitting, standing, walking, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, repetitive motions, talking, hearing and visual acuity. The work is performed primarily indoors and outdoors and requires frequent in-county travel.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or related field; OR a High School diploma and six (6) years experience performing maintenance and/or construction activities. Experience with on-line computerized maintenance management systems and project scheduling software. Ability to supervise personnel and/or processes. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form. Possession of a valid Florida driver’s license.
