This position requires acceptable performance evaluations for the past three years, if applicable. You can upload these evaluations to your candidate profile. If you are requesting veteran's preference, please attach form DD-214. M-DCPS employees who are moved to a final interview will require a reference evaluation from their immediate supervisor. Our office will email form #3506 (reference evaluation) to the supervisor. Following the application deadline, a screening committee will review the applications. CONFERRED TRANSCRIPTS WITH A GRADUATION DATE: Current M-DCPS employees do not need to submit official transcripts if highest degree earned is on file in the Office of Personnel Records (305-995-7258). For non-employees of M-DCPS, official transcripts will be required if you are recommended for the position. Your degree must be from an accredited university. If position does not require a college degree, you are required to have at least a high school diploma. Applicants with academic training and degrees granted outside the U.S. must submit a credential evaluation report from an agency approved by Florida Department of Education that includes a statement of degree equivalency.

Occupational Summary
Supervises and ensures effective delivery of computer operations services among the department, Technical Support, Systems & Programming staff, and District clients.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Ensures that production schedules produced in an Automated Scheduling System are administered and results are produced in accordance with procedures established by the Director, Computer and Facilities Operations. Documents and communicates production work load status to the following shift. Documents and reports faulty equipment to the vendor for repairs and follows up to ensure the equipment is restored in a timely manner. Defines the cause of production failures and coordinates them with specific team members within Information Technology Services. Maintains the Operations Problem Log and records all equipment outages and down time messages. Demonstrates leadership by supervising and training all Computer Operations Staff, initiating and participating in conferences, and evaluating employee performance subject to making recommendations to the Supervisor. Communicates Operation System software problems to Management and Technical Support staff. Maintains tape library and vault procedures and ensures adequate inventory of tapes. Ensures that off-site security files are handled properly. Must understand Disaster Recovery responsibilities and procedures on the Mainframe and Network Platforms according to Miami-Dade County Public Schools β ITS Disaster Recovery Plan. Monitors and maintains network availability of District sites after-hours, monitors Internet access and logs user calls in the Helpdesk Database for follow up. Notifies proper network administrators according to their on call status when potential problems exist. Maintains a working knowledge and understanding of automated job scheduling systems. Performs other duties related to the general administrative responsibilities of the position.
Physical Requirements
This work requires the following physical activities: sitting, mobility, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, repetitive motions, talking, hearing and visual acuity. The work is performed primarily indoors.
Minimum Qualification Requirements
A four (4) year degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience as a Senior Operations staff member in a modern computer center and modern computer environment. Minimum of five (5) years experience in computer operations, with at least three (3) years in directing, assigning, and training operations personnel on state of-the-art computer software/hardware. Evidence of satisfactory completed coursework in understanding Job Control Language and/or equivalent on-the-job training. Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written forms.
