We are seeking a Market Research Manager - Gaming Sales & Marketing, with efficient communication, consultation, and analytics skills to join our Research + Insights team. This role will be responsible for delivering high-impact, actionable market and customer insights related to marketing strategies for the Gaming and Xbox business at Microsoft.

Xbox and the Gaming business is our biggest consumer product, offering significant strategic importance to Microsoftโ€™s future in consumer products.

The Subscriptions and Gaming Research team in Research + Insights looking for an analytical, product thinker/builder, self-starter to provide research support to our Xbox Product Marketing and Retail teams. This person should have Gaming experience or in a related entertainment field.

The new Gaming organization has multiple facets and requires research support to grow our functions in Gaming Sales, Product Marketing, Brand & Campaign, Product Engineering, and Business Planning.

This role will support Gaming in growing revenue by helping to increase the number of subscribers of Game Pass and daily users of Xbox, and 1st and 3rd party Games. In addition, there will be business responsibilities to measure and recommend new strategies in digital and retail.

Responsibilities

Being a research consultant to your stakeholders.A passionate gamer, driven to influence Gaming research through their own experiences and knowledge of the Gaming industry.Curious and driven to succeed by using research methods including discrete choice models, user research, focus groups, quantitative flash polls, life-time value (LTV), social listening and telemetry.A data-driven person who is highly adept at interpreting multiple data sources (qual, quant, behavioral) and providing the necessary impact for the Xbox and gaming team to make business critical decisions for Xbox platform, Consoles, Game Pass subscriptions, and PC Games.A collaborative research manager who can bring together their colleagues, research vendors and stakeholders to answer key business questions. This is critical to the responsibilities of this role.A storyteller who can frame a business problem and make recommendations from data and insights in an engaging and digestible manner for product marketing and engineering.Identify market opportunities, build business cases, define strategy and vision for the Xbox and the Game Pass Subscription.Collaborate with other insight teams both within the broader search and browser ecosystem well as the central marketing research team in the execution, analysis, and presentation of insights to ensure a holistic understanding of the business issues.

Required/Minimum Qualifications

2+ years experience in data science, research, marketing or business-related rolesOR Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Economics, Social Sciences, Statistics, or related field AND 1+ year(s) experience in data science, research, marketing or business-related roles.

Additional Or Preferred Qualifications

5+ years experience in data science, research, marketing or business-related rolesOR Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Economics, Social Sciences, Statistics, or related field AND 4+ years experience in data science, research, marketing or business-related rolesOR Master's Degree in Business, Marketing, Economics, Social Sciences, Statistics, or related field AND 3+ years experience in data science, research, marketing or business-related roles.2+ year(s) project management experience.2+ years experience working with decision makers to define needs and scope research to answer questions.2-3 years in Gaming Research.Passion for Gamers, Gaming, Xbox, or related industries Experience of using behavioral data and data science. Experience with digital platforms and data visualization. Organized and detailed focus, but also flexible and adaptive to quick changes. Able to travel for focus groups and ethnographies.

Market Research IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $80,900 - $162,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $105,300 - $176,900 per year.
