Description
Mid-Continent Steel and Wire a division of Deacero USA, a leader in the nail manufacturing industry, is seeking a Plant Safety Specialist to join our team. The Plant Safety Specialist will lead health, safety, and environmental compliance. This role will set and implement local EHS strategies for overall success in alignment with corporate policy and programs. This position requires a strong understanding of safety procedures and regulations, as well as the ability to effectively communicate and train others on safety best practices.
ResponsibilitiesDevelop and implement safety procedures and protocols in accordance with industry standards and regulationsConduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify potential hazards or risksInvestigate and report on any accidents or incidents that occur on the premisesProvide training and education to employees on safety best practices and proceduresManage safety training programs and ensure all employees receive appropriate trainingCollaborate with other departments and management to ensure compliance with safety protocols and regulationsLead the plant safety committee and ensures actions are tracked for the site through the company’s Safety Action Tracking System.RequirementsBachelor's degree in Occupational Safety & Health or related fieldGSP, ASP, or CSP preferred3+ years of experience in safety management in a manufacturing environmentThorough knowledge of OSHA regulations and industry standardsExcellent communication, training, and leadership skillsProven ability to think critically and make informed decisionsProficient in Microsoft OfficeAbility to coach others, demonstrate self-motivation and take initiative without directionWillingness to work evenings and/or overtime when required to train and/or meet with night shift
