Summary

This position will be responsible for designing and analyzing complex mechanical and robotic systems with requirements driven by sound project management practices. As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will work to conceptualize, design, rapid prototype, and produce new equipment for the truss manufacturing industry. In this position you will work on robust machinery design that helps customers improve their production output.

Job Responsibilities & Requirements

RESPONSIBILITIES

Design, develop, evaluate, and support automated industrial machinery products with focus on New Product Development (NPD) in the Component Manufacturing (CM) and off-site construction industryLead team members through the planning, development, and deployment of complex mechanical architectures with a high level of integrated automationGenerate mechanical project execution artifacts of small to large scale deployments (i.e. cost estimates, schedules, resource needs, risks, forecasts, status, etc.)Carry designs through staged-gating process (i.e. requirements reviews, design reviews, test readiness reviews, verification reviews, etc.)Conduct troubleshooting and root cause/corrective actionsDesign/integrate/test mechanical parts and assemblies using industry best practicesDesign/integrate/test industrial pneumatic and hydraulic systemsDesign/integrate/test industrial electro-mechanical and robotic systemsDevelop/maintain project documentation (i.e. system requirements, engineering drawings, equipment manuals, test plans, project notes, etc.)Develop and publish new standardized processes and procedures that affect engineering organizationEnsure compliance with MiTek engineering procedures, guidelines, industry standards, and governmental regulations applicable to industrial machineryPerform engineering analysis/calculations where applicable (including FEA analysis)Enter new/update existing data in MRP/ERP systemSupport Manufacturing, Marketing & Sales, Purchasing, Installation, and Customer Service Organizations throughout a product’s lifecycleReview/stay current with industry trends and emerging technologiesMentor less experienced Mechanical Engineers and DesignersSome travel required (up to 10% during critical on-site activities)Other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university 7+ years of related working experienceStrong understanding of strength of materials, statics, & dynamicsProficiency with SolidWorks, PDM, and AutoCAD MechanicalProficiency in machining and welding symbols with experience in GD&T analysisProficiency in pneumatic, hydraulic, and electro-mechanical systemsProficiency with Microsoft OfficeExperience in the utilization of vision systems & roboticsAbility to rapidly diagnose and troubleshoot automated systemsAbility to work individually and as part of a teamDemonstrated ability to work well under pressure and deadlinesStrong planning, organizational, and decision-making skillsStrong communication skills to interact frequently with stake holders
