Division Summary: MITRE’s Corporate IT Division is seeking a Cloud Data Architect to lead the planning and successful migration to the cloud for some of MITRE’s most critical corporate IT initiatives which enable MITRE’s Intelligent Enterprise Strategy. This exciting cloud architect and management opportunity crosses multiple domains within the IT profession and involves collaboration across the corporate IT Division and with the greater MITRE community to ensure appropriate re-architecture and optimization of our critical IT Products. The Programs and Projects enabling MITRE’s Intelligent Enterprise Strategy represent large, complex, and rewarding cloud strategy with high visibility and potential across MITRE.

Job Description

Design, develop, and implement robust cloud native data architecture and solutions focused in Azure cloud environments, including but not limited to data integration, ETL processes, data pipelines, and data movement between various Azure services and on-premises systemsProvide technical guidance in migrating and optimizing performance for data workloads in the cloudProvide technical expertise in cloud data services, models, standards, and policies to maximize value for the organizationCollaborate with cross-functional teams, including data engineers, data scientists, and business stakeholders, to understand data requirements and translate them into effective cloud-native data solutionsCollaborate with Governance and InfoSec teams to ensure all data in the cloud follows security, privacy, and compliance controlsCollaborate with Development Support teams to define deployment strategies, automate deployment process, and manage data-related infrastructure as codeProvide technical leadership and mentorship to junior team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and skill development in cloud data servicesStay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and the best practices in cloud-based data architecture and design

Basic Qualifications

At least 8 years of experience working with Oracle, MySQL, MongoDB, Microsoft SQL, and PostgreSQL databases, including administration, development, tuning and migrationAt least 5 years of experience working with Azure data services and tools, such as Azure Data Factory, Azure Analytics, Azure CosmosDB, and othersStrong knowledge of SQL, PL/SQL, Python, PowerShell and other scripting languagesExperience with data modeling, data quality and metadata managementExperience developing and/or championing enterprise data governance policiesExperience in managing data with geographic distribution and isolation, including adherence to data sovereignty regulatory frameworksRelevant certifications, including Azure Data Engineer Associate or Azure Solutions Architect ExpertApplicants selected for this position will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or applicants who are eligible for security clearances.B.S., Computer Science, IT, or equivalent experience

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred experience in using Azure cognitive services, machine learning, or other AI/ML technologies a plusPreferred experience with Machine Language and Generative AI (e.g., ChatGPT, others)Preferred experience with other cloud providers, AWS or GCPPreferred Secret clearance.
