The Energy Unit is split into 3 divisions – Energy Process & Nuclear, Energy Generation, and Energy Networks.

Role Purpose

We are looking for an experienced business and people leader to evolve culture and set direction for the newly merged Thermal, Gas & Liquid (TGL) team of 200 people and over £25m revenue, within the Energy Generation division. This is a fantastic change-led opportunity to own and grow a successful portfolio, facilitating a more proactive energy transition approach and offer in market, leveraging and balancing our historical relationships and capabilities. We have exciting growth ambitions for the TGL team, for which you will provide strategic guidance, direction, and leadership to achieve, working in collaboration with the wider Energy Generation division.

Key Accountabilities

Develop and set a new joint strategy and budget for the new portfolio, integrating existing plans to provide clarity on where and how growth opportunities will be delivered.Own and drive the change process to ensure a successful outcome to the merger of the two teams into one homogenous unit seen by clients and the market as leaders in providing Energy Transition solutions. Using the competitive landscape to prepare, evolve and deliver strategic plans for respective TGL teams, and monitor progress against these to ensure the team achieves its objectives and optimises financial performance and operational productivity.Establish and nurture an innovative, collaborative and high performing work environment that supports and fosters the Mott MacDonald values. Evaluate and manage structure and resourcing across the Division to meet the business requirements now and in the future; managing utilisation; planning and managing skills and capability development; making speciality resources globally available as needed; and advising the Division General Manager on reward and recognition. Be accountable for overall delivery of budgetary targets, striving for continual improvement across Divisions in project performance through the utilisation of sound financial management principles and a continual review of appropriate management information.Ensure robust performance management, career development and talent management is in place across the team via effective feedback, connected conversations, talent management, succession planning processes and career conversations.

Experience And Capabilities

Proven track record of leading and growing a successful business / business unit in the Energy sector with P&L responsibility.Experience of leading change in a positive and flexible way and committed to new and innovative ways of working.Commercially astute, taking ownership of budgets, resourcing, business performance, operational excellence. In-depth knowledge of national market drivers and the competitive landscape of mainland Europe and international markets.Strong capability in developing and proactively managing successful relationships with clients, business partners and competitors.Natural leadership skills enabling culture setting of a collaborative and high-performance environment, motivating and empowering teams.Sound business acumen and ability to apply appropriate technical and commercial judgement and decision-making in complex situations.Experience in project delivery, including commercial and financial management.Keen sense of collaboration and team, valuing shared success and making a measurable contribution to that success.Registered or accredited professional with membership of a recognised relevant professional institution.Fluent in business English.
