About Us: Wandering Whistler Café is opening a board game café in Effingham, IL. We will be creating a vibrant and welcoming space where board game enthusiasts and casual players alike come together to enjoy great food, drinks, and games. Our cafe features an extensive library of board games, a cozy atmosphere, and a menu that caters to southern style sharables. We are dedicated to creating memorable experiences for our guests and fostering a sense of community through both a shared enjoyment of tabletop games and by creating an inclusive third space with a unique atmosphere.

Job Description: We are currently seeking a dynamic and experienced Bar Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate is passionate about board games, has a strong background in bar management, and thrives in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment. As the Bar Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of our bar operations, including inventory management, staff training, creating and updating drink menus, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, and providing exceptional customer service.

Responsibilities:Manage and supervise all bar staff, including hiring, training, scheduling, and performance managementDevelop and maintain an innovative and appealing drink menu, including specialty cocktails, mocktails, beers, and winesOversee inventory management, including ordering supplies, monitoring stock levels, and minimizing wasteEnsure compliance with all health, safety, and sanitation standardsProvide exceptional customer service and handle customer inquiries, feedback, and complaints promptly and professionallyCollaborate with the kitchen team to coordinate food and beverage offeringsConduct regular staff meetings and training sessions to promote product knowledge and service excellenceMonitor and analyze sales trends, identify opportunities for revenue growth, and implement strategies to achieve sales targetsMaintain cleanliness and organization of the bar area, including equipment maintenance and repair as needed

Requirements:Previous experience in bar management or a similar role, preferably in a hospitality or food service environmentStrong knowledge of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, including mixology techniquesExcellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skillsAbility to work effectively under pressure and handle multiple tasks simultaneouslyAttention to detail and a commitment to providing outstanding customer serviceFamiliarity with POS systems and basic computer skillsMust be at least 21 years old and hold a valid Illinois alcohol service permit or equivalent certificationReside within Effingham County, IL
