📋 Role Overview & Responsibilities
Position is for deckhands for the Bristol Bay AK drift gill net sockeye salmon season(two spots open). Will need to make their OWN way to the boat in Naknek, AK(typically requires two flights – to Anchorage and then to King Salmon, AK). Gear, license, and food are supplied by employer. Pay is dependent on experience and percentage of catch.
ResponsibilitiesWork will cover a wide range of tasks including prep work on land and ~4 weeks straight on the water fishing with sometimes very long hours. Hire will sleep aboard the boat for the duration of the job. Responsibilities include maintaining, setting and pulling the nets, harvesting fish, offloading, boat maintenance, and whatever items may come up as needed. QualificationsThis is an ideal fit for an able bodied college student who may have a few summers to return and loves outdoor adventures. Must be able to think in their feet, adapt to what is needed at any specific moment, work well under pressure and low on sleep. Mechanical knowledge is a bonus.
This is not an EASY job but can provide an amazing experience for the right candidate.
