Director of Technical Services

Eggland’s Best is searching for a technical director at our Malvern, Pennsylvania office. Responsibilities include ensuring overall compliance with our operating standards for 65 egg production/processing complexes across the country, as well as making sure certifications are in place for animal care, Safe Quality Food, kosher, and organic (where pertinent). Conducting research to improve product quality and safety would be part of the responsibilities. DVM/VMD or PhD preferred. Travel up to 30% (possibility to “subcontract” a portion of this). Responsibilities· Provide leadership for product development, as well as guide promotional efforts for nutritional attributes of Eggland’s Best eggs.· Work closely with the Eggland’s Best quality assurance team and franchisee egg producers to ensure that compliance with the Eggland’s Best Operating Standards Manual is maintained, with particular emphasis in the areas of food safety, product quality, and certifications for kosher, animal welfare, Safe Quality Food and organic (where pertinent). Maintain compliance documents in EB Flock Management System and FoodLogiQ. · Conduct/coordinate facility audits to ensure the highest possible product quality, safety, animal welfare, and overall compliance with the EB Operating Standards.· Ensure compliance with state and federal government regulations pertaining to facility operations, package labels and promotional materials.· Manage consulting veterinarians who conduct audits of franchisee feed mills, egg production facilities and egg processing plants. · Serve on Eggland’s Best Technical Committee. Assist with gathering their input regarding EB practices and incorporating appropriate changes into the EB Operating Standards Manual.· Assist EB consumer services team with responses to consumer questions. Work with EB producers to ensure appropriate corrective action for any product quality issues.· Keep current on scientific advances and R&D efforts. · Support sales team with technical expertise as needed.

QualificationsExperience / Key Competencies Required:· DVM, or Ph.D. in Poultry Science, Food Science or similar degree. Relevant experience would also be considered.· Genuine commitment to excellence, integrity and ethical conduct · Strong competencies with respect to organizing records and maintaining attention to detail· Ability to interact pleasantly, patiently and effectively with customers (retailers) and consumers to work out prompt resolutions to any product quality issues· Ability and willingness to work both independently and as a team with other EB employees and the EB franchisee network· Ability to lead· Ability to be assertive and authoritative when necessary· Flexibility to travel · Ability to require absolute compliance with company standards in a way that inspires cooperative and supportive commitment from franchisee egg producers· Ability to work with regulatory officials and certification organizations in a way that builds mutual respect and cooperation· Utilize skills and abilities to further the success of Eggland’s Best, LLC and affiliated product brands
