Lead Preschool Teacher

POSITION SUMMARY:Under the direction and supervision of the Director, the Lead Teacher will be responsible for the planning, development, and implementation of all classroom activities using the tools provided by the Lowell Public School system. They will also foster the children’s social, physical, spiritual, and mental development in the program. The Lead Teacher may assume Director responsibilities in the temporary absence of the Director. This is a full-time, year round position and it does not follow a public school calendar.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:· Planning, supervising, and implementing the program in accordance with the goals and policies of the YMCA.· Being responsible for the safety of the children in the program always.· Supervising teachers, teacher assistants, and volunteers in the classroom.· Effectively implementing the Lowell Public School Curriculum for the classroom.· Documenting attendance, absenteeism, and incidents for each child in compliance with EEC regulations.· Effectively communicating verbally and in writing with parents throughout the year and during parent-teacher conferences.· Being responsible for the appearance of classroom and maintaining the quality of supplies, equipment, and materials in the classroom.· Attend all staff meeting and in-service training as required. Maintain CPR and First Aid certifications.· Attending parent and parent-child events related to the program.· Participate in YMCA volunteer programs.· Continuing professional development through community involvement, reading, and further education.· Assuming any other duties as directed by the YMCA administration or Director. QUALIFICATIONS:• Bachelor’s degree required• Lead teacher certification through the Department of Early Education and Care (EEC)• Active Professional Qualifications Registry• Completion of Strong Start Training through EEC• CPR and First Aid certified
