📋 Role Overview & Responsibilities

DeShazo & Nesbitt is a 4-attorney employment and personal injury litigation practice just west of downtown Austin. We are seeking a proactive paralegal with litigation experience and light office management. Trial experience is also helpful. The position is full time and in-person. The ideal candidate will show attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

If you do not have previous litigation experience with the Texas and federal courts, this position is not the right fit for you.

Competitive salary will depend on experience. Benefits include health insurance, PTO, and free parking.

Duties:- Assist attorneys in preparing legal documents such as pleadings, motions, and briefs-Regularly e-file with Texas and federal courts-Knowledge of the Texas Rules of Civil Procedure- Organize and maintain case files, including electronic filing systems- Light office management for a small firm- Prepare and organize exhibits for trials, hearings, or depositions- Review and proofread legal documents for accuracy and completeness- Coordinate with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel as needed- Assist with trial preparation, including witness coordination and exhibit preparation- Perform administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, managing calendars, and maintaining correspondence

Skills:- Proficiency in Outlook, Adobe, Microsoft Office and QuickBooks- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously- Excellent written and verbal communication skills- Knowledge of legal research methods and resources- Attention to detail with strong proofreading skills- Familiarity with state and federal court procedures and filing systems- Trial experience is a plus
