📋 Role Overview & Responsibilities
Gingerbread Cottage Preschool is looking for a qualified part-time Preschool Teacher for the 2024-25 school year. This position will be in a 2.5, 3 or 4 year old classroom. Days per week are not yet determined. Base work hours are 8:30 am to 12:30 pm. The student to teacher ratio is capped at 10:1. There is an opportunity for additional pay beyond the pay for normal school operating hours if the teacher participates in our early drop off program or after school kids club program. Staff are also paid for weekly planning time, staff meetings and 16 hours of mandatory yearly professional development training.
QualificationsExperience as a Preschool or Elementary School Teacher (required)Associates or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field (preferred)
ResponsibilitiesImplement the GBC curriculum for preschool studentsEmploy a variety of educational techniques (storytelling, educational center play, etc.)Observe each child to help them improve their social competencies and build self-esteemEncourage children to interact with each other in positive and supportive waysGuide children to develop their artistic and practical capabilities through a carefully constructed curriculum (identify shapes, numbers, colors, crafts, etc.)Supervise students to ensure they are safe at all timesTrack children’s progress and report to parentsCollaborate with other educatorsMaintain a clean and tidy classroom consistent with health and safety standards
SkillsA great love and patience for childrenAbility to engage students and earn their trust and attentionExcellent understanding of the principles of child development and preschool educational methodsFamiliarity with safety and sanitation guidelines for classroomsExcellent communication and instructional skillsProfessional, friendly and dependableCertification in child CPR (or willingness to obtain certification)
SalaryPay is based on level of experience and education.
