Senior Scientist, Organic Synthetic Chemistry

A newly created company is seeking an experienced Synthetic Organic Chemist to support a revolutionary chemistry AI platform for small molecule therapeutic discovery from lead identification to lead candidate on behalf of clients. Key Responsibilitiescollaboration with cross functional teams (automation engineers, analytical, biology and AI/ML) drive solutions for the development of reaction conditions for the automated synthesis of small molecules.troubleshoot, and optimize synthetic routes for rapid generation of complex building blocks.and optimize organic reactions, work-up and SPE purification for automation in HTS fashion.and test conditions to clean up synthesized compounds on solid phase support, including metal scavenging, as well as develop LC conditions for final product purification.design and test protocols for automation system validations.continuous automated synthesis of small molecules on HTS fashion.and design synthetic routes for complex building blocks. Guide, troubleshoot and oversee CROs on the synthesis of the compounds, as applicable.analytical chemists on chromatographic methods development and analytical equipment troubleshooting.and maintain synthetic chemistry project timeline, and partner with functional leads to coordinate and drive activities.drive cross-functional communication and decision-making, ensuring alignment with internal and external stakeholders.project status and issues to the management and other stakeholders through meetings and key documents.

Qualifications degree in Organic Chemistry or related fields with at least 5 years of pharmaceutical industry experience. Candidates with a mixed combination of degrees, and longer industry experience may be considered. Medicinal / Synthetic organic chemist is preferred.strong hands-on background on route scouting for drug candidates’ synthesis.versed in metal-catalyzed organic reactions is a must. High throughput screening expertise is desired.ability for taking initiative, creativity, and innovation in problem solving.to detail and proactive with excellent follow through.to work both independently and together with the analytical, automation and biology teams.ability to deliver complex objectives under aggressive timelines in a rapidly changing environment.to consistently generate quality data and manage large databases.versed in analytical technology such as LC (including prep and semi-prep), NMR, LC-MS, KF, etc. SFC knowledge is a plus.on design of experiments (DoE) is ideal.in purification by column chromatography (manual and automated, such as Biotage or equivalent.and AI/ML knowledge is a plus.
