📋 Role Overview & Responsibilities

Intelligence Specialists at NASIC generally begin their careers assigned to one of our intelligence production teams. You’ll develop analytic skills with training in the intelligence production process. What does this mean? Each team has classified mission focus on areas including: aircraft, spacecraft, missile systems, and cyberspace, as well as specific electronic systems such as radars, navigation, communications/data links, jammers, electro-optical sensors, and directed energy weapons and how our adversaries use them. Our intelligence specialists come from varied backgrounds including political science, foreign language proficiency, economics, prior military, education, and the physical, social and behavioral sciences…you name it! The results of your work directly impact our national security by advising senior military planners, impacting next generation weapons systems, and even informing the highest levels of our government. You must be a US citizen to be eligible for a position at NASIC, and you must be able/willing to obtain/maintain a Top Secret security clearance. A non-disclosure agreement must be signed upon hire.

Responsibilities· Performs duties involving the processing and exploitation intelligence information.· Uses independent judgment and experience in selecting and/or developing new methods, approaches, and procedures to process or exploit intelligence data.· Performs preliminary research, analysis, and evaluation of raw intelligence data based upon such factors as recency and authenticity of technical detail and coverage.· Prepares organized presentations of studies as directed on specific intelligence.· Make the preliminary determinations on the distribution of most intelligence reports.· Work of a written nature is reviewed during progress for compliance with instructions and guides. Completed work is reviewed for technical accuracy and compliance with instructions.

Qualifications· Knowledge of a wide range of intelligence processing and exploitation methods, techniques, and practices using multi-source intelligence information to process, exploit and disseminate intelligence information in a useable form that directly or indirectly affects national security.· Knowledge of advanced USAF and national ISR process, exploit, and disseminate (PED) capabilities, systems, and multi-source intelligence production policies to process and exploit semi-complex to complex information/situations attained from multiple sources.· Knowledge of the national intelligence community, Joint, DoD structure, organizations, and mission/functions, inter- relationships, and operations.· Skill in conducting unbiased and difficult research, identify appropriate available systems/data sources, and produce intelligence requirements assessments that answer specific tasks to link and leverage agency capabilities and to develop new methods, approaches, or procedures.· Ability to communicate effectively with others both orally and in writing, in working out solutions to problems or questions related to the work, writing clear and concise intelligence products, and delivering written and/or verbal presentations to senior level audiences for decision-making purposes.· Ability to maintain control of classified material, assimilate disparate data, render knowledgeable and accurate assessments of the implication of such data estimates, and make effective recommendations under conditions of urgency and pressure.

EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION QUALIFICATION, and FOREIGN EDUCATION QUALIFICATION: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standards; for additional information refer to the General Schedule (GS) qualifications link: https://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/classification-qualifications/general-schedule-qualification-standards/#url=List-by-Occupational-SeriesConditions of Employment· U.S. Citizenship Required· All new DCIPS employees are required to complete a two-year DCIPS trial period.· Position is designated special-sensitive and incumbent must be able to obtain and retain a TOP SECRET (TS) security clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI). A non-disclosure agreement must be signed.· PCS expenses are not authorized IAW JTR and Air Force Regulations· Recruitment incentives may be authorized· This position is subject to provisions of the DoD Priority Placement Program· Must be registered for Selective Service, see Legal and Regulatory Guide· Drug Testing: This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Testing Program. Employee must pass initial and periodic drug testing.· Shift work and emergency overtime may be required· Employee must maintain current certifications· Disclosure of Political Appointments· The employee may be required to travel in military and/or commercial aircraft to perform temporary duty assignments.· The work is primarily sedentary. Items carried typically include briefcases, notebooks, working papers, references, data print outs, and suitcases. A moderate amount of standing and walking is required in getting to and from meetings and· The workspace is adequately heated, lighted, and ventilated. There is occasional noise from office equipment, such as printers, fax machines, and telephones. The employee is required to perform in varying office and meeting environments.· The incumbent observes normal safety precautions when working in and travelling away from the work site.
