Senior Project Engineer, Central Systems

Position Overview

Navistar’s Central Systems and Architecture team develops system level requirements for Navistar’s vehicle functions, as well as defines vehicle network, functional and communications architecture constructs. The Project Engineer, Central Systems, will be responsible for leading the development of vehicle system definition and requirements including, but not limited to, system definition, functional allocation, and specification development.

This position will be located at Navistar’s design center in Lisle, Illinois. Occasional support may also be required at Navistar’s test and production facilities, as well as occasional onsite support at suppliers and customers.

Responsibilities

Development of electrical system specifications and requirementsLead development of system FMEA documentationDefinition of and participation in execution of system test processesProblem solving and implementing solutions to hardware and control software issuesWork in a team and contribute to the continuous improvement activities through participation in Lean projects, technical knowledge capture, process improvements etc.

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer ScienceAt least 8 years of experience in product design/development and/or computer science experienceAt least 1 year leading others in engineer/design activities

OR

Master’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer ScienceAt least 6 years of experience in product design/development and/or computer science experienceAt least 1 year leading others in engineer/design activities

OR

PhD in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer ScienceAt least 3 years of experience in product design/development and/or computer science experienceAt least 1 year leading others in engineer/design activities

Additional Requirements

Qualified candidates, excluding current Navistar employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. Experience in functional areas, such as Electric Vehicle Electronics, Embedded vehicle electronics, Central system functionality (i.e. Odometer, Power Controls, etc), Vehicle Communications and Network, CybersecurityEmbedded hardware design and development experienceExperience with Vehicle, Powertrain, or Engine Controls System designExperience with engineering and quality design and development methodologies: (8D, FMEA, DVP&R)CAN and/or J1939 development and debugging experienceVector CANalyzer/CANoe, MS Visio experienceExperience with requirement documentation and system engineering
