Responsibilities

This position will report directly to the Warden at a minimum custody correctional facility and will be responsible for ACA accreditation and PREA audits at this facility. This position will also report indirectly to the Division Audit Administrator. Other responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following:

Providing hands-on guidance and assistance to the section heads within the assigned facility regarding ACA and PREA audits. Providing technical guidance to the Warden(s). Coordinating internal compliance audits, safety and health audits and inspections and region inspections as well as ensuring all standard operating procedures and post orders are in compliance with audit standards and division policy. Serving as a coordinator for monitoring the strategic plan, the key performance indicators and as the Facility Public information officer. Working collaboratively with other prison section heads, the Warden, the Region Director, the Region Compliance Manager, the Division Audit Administrator, the Director of Performance and Standards and other Division Directors to develop strategies for enhancing prison operations, using the results of operational audits, and other measures developed by this section.

This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits with established working hours of Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm and may require working beyond normal work schedule to meet business need.

Note To Current State Employees

The salary grade for this position is NC12(Salary Range: $44,588 - $78,028). State employees are encouraged to apply for positions of interest even if the salary grade is the same as, or lower than, their current position. If selected for this position, a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience, funding availability, and internal equity. Based upon these factors, a pay increase MAY result.

About Wake Correctional Center

Wake Correctional Center in Raleigh is a minimum-security prison for adult males. It is primarily a “work” unit in that 80 percent of the offenders leave the facility each day for incentive wage work assignments in various state agencies in the Wake County area. Offenders also work at other area adult correctional facilities and Correction Enterprises operations. There are also offenders nearing their release date that participate on the work release program, leaving the facility to work for businesses in the community. Incentive wage work assignments are also available at the prison in the food service, clothes house, janitorial, landscaping, maintenance, canteen and recreation areas.

Wake Technical Community College works with the prison to provide full-time vocational classes in Certified Communications, Heating/Air Conditioning and Electrical Wiring. Part-time classes in Blueprint Reading and Horticulture are also available. Educational classes in GED, college-level courses and college correspondence classes are available.

To Qualify For This Position, Applicants Must Document In The Work Experience Section Of The Application That They Possess ALL Of The Following

Documented knowledge of Prison Policy and Procedures and/or Facility Operations.Documented experience with report writing.Documented knowledge of federal PREA compliance procedures. Documented knowledge of audit and inspection procedures in corrections.

Bachelor's degree from an appropriately accredited institution and two (2) years of experience related to the area of assignment; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
