Responsibilities

Reporting to the Facility Maintenance Supervisor I, the Maintenance/Construction Technician III requires specialization in two or more technical trades in connection with maintenance of facilities, related equipment, and machinery. Position functions at the journey level in multiple skilled trades such as electrical, plumbing, masonry, heating and air, or similar specializations. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Completing complex work assignments which require planning and/or coordinating multiple trade disciplines.Working assigned tasks independently and referring very technical or unusual working problems to a supervisor for consideration. Supervising offender workers engaged in semiskilled, unskilled, or of skilled maintenance assignments.Ensuring compliance with work orders.Maintaining equipment in proper working condition.

This is a full-time position (40 hours per week - occasional nights/weekends) with State Benefits .

The Dept. of Adult Correction is responsible for the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced after conviction for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes State Prisons with custody, healthcare, and facility operations staff as well as the division of Community Supervision. Other divisions include Administration, Compliance & Accreditation, Comprehensive Health Services, Internal Affairs & Intelligence Operations, Post-Release Supervision & Parole Commission, and Rehabilitation & Reentry.

Scotland Correctional Institution is located in Laurinburg, North Carolina and houses up to 1,800 male offenders in a close, medium, and minimum custody facility.

Necessary Special Qualification

MAY require current certification by the Environmental Protection Agency as a Type I, II, III or Universal technician as required by Title 40, Code of Federal Regulations Part 82, Subpart F.
