Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant, Clinical Trials

ROLE OVERVIEW and PURPOSEThe Nurse Practitioner works to support the mission and vision of Neighborhood Healthcare (NHC) by providing excellent patient-centered care and services within a dynamic team environment. This role will provide general medical care and treatment to patients under the direction of providers. In addition, this role will act as a Sub Investigator to Neighborhood Healthcare’s Institute of Health clinical trials. RESPONSIBILITIESPerforms physical examinations and preventive health measures within prescribed guidelines/instructions from providers and NHC practice protocolsOrders, interprets, and evaluates diagnostic tests to identify and assess patientclinical problems and health care needsRecords physical findings and formulates plan and prognosis based on patient’sconditionDiscusses cases with providers and other health professionals to prepare comprehensive patient care plansSubmits health care plans and goals of individual patients for periodic review and evaluation by providersPrescribes or recommends drugs or other forms of treatment to patients, such as physical therapy, inhalations therapy, or related therapeutic proceduresRefers patients to providers for consultation or specialized health resources for treatmentKeeps informed and promotes organizational activities and team goals aligned to the NHC mission and visionIdentifies training needs and promotes developmental activities for the teamPerforms duties in accordance with the NP Supervisory AgreementImpacts patient experiences by demonstrating courteous and helpful behavior and a commitment to accuracyShares accountability for overall patient health outcomes by working in coordination with care teamsOperates to instill confidence in our care and in our facilities to patients, fellow employees, and other stakeholders Clinical Trial:Serves as a Sub-Investigator clinician for clinical trials by ensuring all elements of clinical trials work and completed in compliance with standard operating proceduresPerforms study-related decisions in compliance with ethical conduct of studies and IRB approved protocolsCompletes study documentation in accordance with the study specific requirementsDocuments all findings in subject specific source documentsProvides ongoing assessments of the study subject/patient to identify adverse events, including providing medical management, as neededEnsures proper documentation and reporting of all adverse events and serious adverse eventsPerforms physical examinations as part the screening evaluation and active study conductCommunicates with clinical trial sponsors and auditors, as requestedReviews investigator’s brochure prior to performing study related activitiesParticipates in on-call activities to ensure adequate medical coverage, as neededMonitors safety and well-being of study participants at all timesDelegates study responsibilities as appropriate to trained study staffEDUCATION/EXPERIENCEMaster’s degree in nursing requiredCalifornia Nurse Practitioner and Registered Nursing license in good standing is requiredGood Clinical Practice (GCP) Certification or ability to acquire upon hireExperience working with clinical trials preferred ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including superior composition, typing and proofreading skillsAbility to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule formKnowledgeable about and experience with GCP/ICH guidelines, Clinic SOPs, QA/QC procedures, and Investigator 1572 FormAbility to successfully manage multiple tasks simultaneouslyExcellent planning and organizational abilityAbility to work as part of a team as well as independentlyAbility to work with highly confidential information in a professional and ethical mannerPhysical RequirementsAbility to lift/carry 15 lbs/weightAbility to stand for long periods of time COMPLIANCE (Safety & HIPPA) Follows all safety procedures as outlined in Neighborhood Healthcare’s Illness and Injury Prevention Plan (IIPP) and report any injuries and/or unsafe conditions immediately Maintains current knowledge of policies and procedures as they relate to safe work practices Follows all safety procedures and report unsafe conditions Uses appropriate body mechanics to ensure an injury free environment Familiarity with location of nearest fire extinguisher and emergency exits Follows all infection control procedures including blood-borne pathogen protocols Maintains privacy of all patients, employee and volunteer information and access such information only on a need-to-know basis for business purposes Complies with all regulations regarding corporate integrity and security obligations Reports all behavior and/or activity that are unethical, fraudulent, or unlawfulPay range: $147k to $199k per year, depending on experience.
