Job Titles: Python developer / Software Developer Location: Chicago, IL / Peoria, IL / Denver, CO; Remote ok but someone local to any of these three CAT hubs is preferred.Duration: 12 Months Contract with possible extension
Typical task breakdown:Work as part of a project team to write high quality/efficient code, coordinate software development, and determine project scope and limitations.Review project requests describing user needs to estimate time and requirements to accomplish project. Develop new features for existing simulation software.Extract meaningful answers from complicated outputs.
Interaction with team: Daily interaction with the broader development team. within Cat Digital and external stakeholders. Education & Experience Required: BS degree required with 7+ years. Computer science background. Data science is a plus.MS Degree/PH.D with 5+ years of experience.
Technical Skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, customer service and interpersonal skills.Ability to work independently and manage one’s time.Basic mentoring skills necessary to provide support and constructive performance feedback.Knowledge of the full software development lifecycle: from business/systems analysis, through requirements gathering and functional specification authoring, to development, and testing/delivery.Ability to troubleshoot issues and make system changes as needed to resolve issue.Experience in QA testing processes.Python expertiseExperience with data processing packages like NumPy, pandas, etcExperience with visualization packages like matplotlib, Plotly, etcExperience with SQL querying..Git, AWS, AzureNice to have: Experience with Discrete Event Simulation (e.g. SimPy)
