The Role: Maintenance Engineer
Location: Newark, NJ
Reports To: Chief Engineer
Status: Non Exempt- FT
The New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) is the premier anchor cultural institution in the state, distinguished not only by the world-class performers presented on its stages but by an extensive arts education program, robust community engagement initiatives that bring the arts into parks, schools, libraries and houses of worship across Greater Newark, a track record of developing new productions that tour the country; and a multifaceted mission that emphasizes the revitalization of its home city, Newark, through the power of the performing arts.
Position Summary
Under the direction of the Chief Engineer and/or the Assistant Chief Engineer, the engineers work to ensure the facilities and building mechanical systems are operated and maintained in a safe and efficient manner. Engineers also perform performance related duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Start equipment and make temperature adjustments according to schedule.Tour mechanical spaces to ensure all equipment is running properly.Complete work orders as required.Work on carpentry and plumbing projects as required.Perform related duties as required.
Qualifications and Special Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent experience required.Completion of I.U.O.E. training program or equivalent required.Four (4) years experience as an Engineer.Black Seal Boiler License.CFC Certification.Basic engineering & HVAC knowledge.Able to lift and carry heavy objects from 50 to 100 pounds. Must have knowledge of the safest methods to be used in performing heavy manual labor.Must be or become a member of Local 68 of the International Union of Operating Engineers.
