Groundskeeper

The Groundskeeper shall report to the Grounds Supervisor. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:* Plants shrubs, trees, and flowers; prunes trees, shrubs, and flowerbeds.* Removes trash and debris from stairs and walks; rakes leaves, and mows.* Waters trees, shrubs, and lawns; performs minor irrigation activities.* Sprays for weeds and insects using unrestricted chemicals as required.* Applies fertilizer; top dresses, tills, and re-seeds garden and grass areas.* Operates large power lawn mowers, edgers, hand tools, and vehicles associated with ground maintenance and landscaping activities.* Operates pick-up trucks, dump trucks, tractors, trucks with trailers, and forklifts for hauling purposes and for trash and debris removal.* Performs minor maintenance and repair on equipment and tools as required.* Shovels and removes snow and ice and places ice melt in designated areas such as sidewalks, pathways and entryways as required.* May assist with the maintenance of parking lots and other surfaces and assist with installation and removal of outdoor signs and traffic/control barriers as required.* May serve on various campus committees as assigned.* Performs other duties as assigned or required.* Nothing contained herein shall limit the President in assigning the employee to any of the various college activities for which he/she would be qualified in order to meet the needs of New Mexico Junior College.
