📋 Role Overview & Responsibilities
The Decision Support Analyst plays a critical role in providing analytical support to healthcare organizations, aiding in decision-making processes aimed at improving patient care, operational efficiency, and financial performance. This position involves collecting, analyzing, and interpreting healthcare data to generate insights and recommendations for strategic planning, resource allocation, and performance improvement initiatives. The Decision Support Analyst collaborates with various stakeholders, including clinicians, administrators, and IT professionals, to develop data-driven solutions that enhance healthcare delivery and outcomes.
Responsibilities
Collect and compile healthcare data from various sources, including electronic health records (EHRs), claims databases, and other relevant systems. Clean, validate, and standardize healthcare data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency. Utilize analytical tools and techniques to analyze healthcare data and identify trends, patterns, and anomalies. Develop and maintain reports, dashboards, and data visualizations to communicate key findings and insights to stakeholders. Collaborate with clinicians, administrators, and other stakeholders to understand business requirements and priorities. Participate in the design and implementation of decision support systems, predictive models, and performance metrics. Conduct ad-hoc analyses and special projects to support strategic initiatives and operational improvements. Stay current with industry trends, regulations, and best practices in healthcare analytics and decision support. Provide training and support to end-users on accessing and interpreting healthcare data and reports. Maintain confidentiality and security of healthcare data in compliance with HIPAA and other relevant regulations.
Qualifications
Associate or Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, public health, informatics, statistics, computer science, or a related field. Strong analytical skills with proficiency in data analysis tools and programming languages such as SQL. Knowledge of healthcare terminology, processes, and regulations, including HIPAA, HITECH, and Meaningful Use. Experience working with healthcare data sources, such as EHRs, claims data, and clinical registries. Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey complex information to non-technical audiences. Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and data integrity. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. Prior experience in healthcare analytics, decision support, or related roles is preferred. Certifications such as Certified Health Data Analyst (CHDA) or Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) are a plus.
