📋 Role Overview & Responsibilities
Assesses, diagnoses and treats speech, language, cognitive, communication, voice, swallowing, fluency and other related disorders Keeps records, monitors progress, and counsels patients and their family members
Responsibilities
Maintains accountability to the Director of Rehabilitation Services.Provides input to the director regarding goals, plans, needs, new programs, improvements and methods to accomplish.Exhibits knowledge of and complies with state regulations.Demonstrates knowledge of and skill in speech production, intelligibility, voice production, laryngeal function and respiratory-phonate ability.Demonstrates knowledge of assessing reading, writing and spelling ability and treating disorders. Demonstrates knowledge of neurological conditions and motor speech disorders in children and adults. Determines the appropriateness of treatment based on a potential for functional improvement in a reasonable and generally predictable period of time. Prepares discharge summaries which include an assessment of the effectiveness of the treatment, specific outcome statements and recommendations for further treatment and management. Demonstrates knowledge of the medical diagnosis, cognitive and linguistic characteristics contributing to dysphasia. Familiar with normal and pathological laryngeal anatomy, physiology and medical terminology as it pertains to laryngeal disorders and techniques of voice treatment. In-services nursing staff as needed regarding communication and/or swallow issues. Ability to conduct a Modified Barium Swallow examination, interpret results and plan treatment based on results. Completes quarterly quality reports. Maintains performance improvement date monthly.

Education
Qualifications
Master’s Degree from approved school of SLP.
Degrees, Licensure and/or Certifications"
Current State License and certificate of clinical competency.
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
Selects continuing education programs relevant to the department.
Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English
