This position is for Cumberland Juvenile Detention Center, in Fayetteville , NC.

Recruitment Range: $33,100 - $44,509

Must be willing to work where needed and ensure coverage at areas responsible.

Work Schedule: Sunday, Monday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday from 6:30am to 4:30pm.

This position will assist the Cook Supervisor II and/or Food Service Supervisor position and provide support of the facility’s Child Nutrition Program and will ensure compliance with the Department’s Federal Child Nutrition Program regulations by:

providing nutritionally adequate meals meeting the federal Child Nutrition Program patterns; maintaining required records, reports, and inventories in compliance with federal and state regulations; requisition food and supplies as needed; checking the cost and quality of items received, and insure proper storage; complying with policies and procedures of the Department; and Assuming any responsibilities as designated by the Detention Center Cook II Supervisor and/or Youth Development Center Food Service Supervisor IV and/or immediate supervisor, facility Director, the Child Nutrition Program Administrator and Child Nutrition Program Administrative Officer.

This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits .

If selected for this position, a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience, funding availability, and internal equity. To qualify for this position, applicants must document on the application that they possess ALL of the following:

Experience of the methods of preparing meats, vegetables and foods in quantity lots.Inspect incoming fresh vegetable, fruits and meats to determine that they meet purchase order specifications. Maintain high standards of personal cleanliness as well as food sanitation.Interpret and follow standard recipes and prescribed menus as well as specific oral and written instructions.Working knowledge of the cooking times and temperatures of various foods and methods of preserving their flavor, food value and safety.

Management Preferences

Employee must have a specific knowledge of the Child Nutrition Program, State and Federal guidelines and regulations, and the Department’s operational policies and procedures. Employee must accurately follow recipes, complete production record documentation, serve correct pre-portioned amount of food, follow federal traditional, enhanced meal pattern (serve the required food components (milk, bread, meat, fruit, vegetable). Employee must accurately assist supervisor with maintaining and completing required documentation for the HACCP Binders.

Minimum Education And Experience Requirements

Education and/or experience in food preparation that is directly related to the job and consistent with accepted practices of the trade equivalent to one year of experience in a commercial and/or institutional setting.
