About The Role

We have an opportunity for a Production Team Leader to join our busy team in the Northumberland area, reporting to the Treatment Works Manager, the successful candidate will be required to organise, co-ordinate, develop and support a team of employees to maximise the team’s contribution towards the effective operation and maintenance of the wastewater treatment assets. You will achieve this by following NWL policies, procedures and guidelines without compromising safety.

You will be able to clearly demonstrate and uphold our company values providing direction, leadership, and a consistent approach to leading your operational team. The successful candidate will ensure operational practices are followed and encourage improvement as well as being responsible for ensuring Health and Safety requirements are adhered to, and that legislative and quality standards are achieved to ensure full compliance against our discharge consents.

You will be responsible for your allocated budget and be able to identify variances to your Works Manager and look for efficiencies. Development of people is key to the success of your team; therefore, you should be prepared to demonstrate how you will achieve this.

Please note – This role has been defined as a safety or security critical role and as a condition of a formal offer of employment you will be required to undergo a drug and alcohol test. Prospective employees and agency workers in defined safety and security critical roles will be required to undertake a drug and alcohol test after the job offer has been made. This will be prior to or within four weeks of their start date.

Prospective employees and agency workers who fail a pre-employment urine drug screen will have their sample analysed by the Company appointed laboratory as a matter of course. Failing a pre-employment drugs or alcohol test may lead to the job offer being revoked.

About You

You will have the ability to communicate effectively with your team and key stakeholders within the business as well as technical knowledge of the day-to-day operation of effluent treatment processes.

You will have proven experience of working in the water industry or process related industry and be able to plan your workload/assess priorities and delegate specific tasks, giving appropriate direction to staff in difficult and demanding situations. Excellent interpersonal skills, both verbal and written is essential as well as previous leadership experience.

You are also required to hold a valid driving licence.
