1:1 Nursing Liaison, OSH - 23332

Position Summary: Office of School Health (OSH) Nursing provides and manages staff nurses for schools during the day. OSH requests contracted nurses from NYC Public Schools (NYCPS) approved vendors (agencies) to supplement nurse vacancies upon OSH request. OSH regional liaisons request these nurses from vendors for whole school populations. Some students in the New York City school system may require individual 1:1 nurse for the school day and/or transportation nurses to accompany students on a NYCPS-authorized vehicle to and from school. The OSH Special Education Student Information System (SESIS) Nursing unit, housed at OSH Central, reviews and recommends 1:1 and/or TN services for students with varied abilities. The OSH 1:1 liaison works with SESIS Nursing to request these services from NYCPS vendors approved to provide 1:1 and/or transportation nurses. Performs related work.

Reports to: Agency Nurse Tracking System Coordinator

Key Relationships: Agency Nurse Tracking System Coordinator, Agency Nurse Billing Coordinator, Nursing Leadership.

Responsibilities

Liaise with vendors to follow up requests and dates for nurse assignments.Receive initiation sheets from the OSH SESIS Nursing Unit and send them to the OSH contracted vendors or those with vendor agreements to request 1:1 and/or transportation nurses.Participate in meetings with the SESIS unit and nursing leadership to plan for new students’ needs and those for the new school year.Track transmittals and follow up with agencies on status.Verify and document nurse coverage status on OSH tools as requested. Create confirmation numbers and enter into OSH electronic nurse tracking systems.Follow up and provide nurse coverage information to the SESIS Nursing team and nursing leadership.Work with the Agency Nurse Tracking Coordinator.Provide reports to OSH nursing as needed.Participate in OSH central health initiatives and projects that support the functions of the OSH nursing program.

Qualification Requirements

Minimum

A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two (2) years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; orHigh school graduation or equivalent and six (6) years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; orEducation and/or experience which is equivalent to “1” or “2” above. However, all candidates must have at least one (1) year of experience as described in “1” above.

Preferred

Proficient in MS Office Suite, particularly MS Excel.Strong yet professional communication.Able to take initiative.

Salary: $67,810 - $91,533

(Internal candidates who are selected for this position and who currently hold comparable or less senior positions within the DOE will not earn less than their current salary.)
