Job Description

Purpose of Position: This class of positions encompasses professional, supervisory or administrative work of varying degrees of difficulty and responsibility in the operation of a social work department providing psychosocial and other social work services to different types of patients across various settings. Ensures patient-centered quality care and services in support of better outcomes and improved patient experience, in accordance with all applicable local, state, and federal rules and regulations, and social work standards of care. There are five (5) Assignment Levels within this class of positions; all personnel perform related work.

Examples Of Typical Tasks

Assignment Level V Under general direction, with very wide latitude for independent judgment and decision-making, in addition to performing and supervising the duties of the lower Assignment Levels, performs the following typical tasks:

Oversees the work of a social work program or segment of a large or specialized social work program, providing psychosocial services, utilizing casework, and group work and community organization methodologies. Develops and maintains internal administrative controls of a program area to ensure compliance with federal and state laws, rules and regulations and with NYC Health + Hospitals regulations. Prepares reports on staff operations and makes recommendations regarding policies or procedures to facilitate improved services, increased patient satisfaction and better patient outcomes.

Minimum Qualifications

Valid license as an LCSW issued by the NYSED, and two (2) years of supervisory experience, as described above.
