Senior Consultant Accounting Policy

The Senior Consultant, Accounting Policy assists with maintaing the company's accounting policies, provides consultation and guidance to accounting teams and business units on various accounting issues, assists in the preparation of financial information for external disclosure, and helps ensure compliance with SOX requirements. This position offers the opportunity to gain a broad understanding of the business and to interface with Management and Finance leaders across many functions and business units.

Responsibilities May Include

Develop and maintain accounting and authority limit policiesAct as a contact for accounting policy issues, including research and documentation of technical accounting mattersReview and research new U.S. GAAP accounting standards and assist accounting groups and business units in their implementationSupport external reporting through review of SEC filings, including preparation of disclosuresReview contracts and other proposals to determine the appropriate accounting and assess possible accounting issues.Participate on business development project teams and provide advise on financial statement modeling, accounting treatment and possible accounting issuesDevelop and lead training on accounting policy topicsLiaise with internal and external audit, accounting groups and business units on changes to processes and internal controlsAbility to lead other qualified professionals Other special projects

Required Qualifications

Legally authorized to work in the job posting countryUnderstanding of generally accepted accounting principles, SEC rules and regulations and SOX requirementsBachelors degree in Accounting or FinanceCPA (Certified Public Accountant)12 or more years of experience in finance, audit or accounting

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in accounting policy and oil and gas industry Prior experience in pubic accounting Ability to handle multiple tasks and changing priorities in a fast-paced environmentAbility to lead a team and participate on project teams in a collaborative mannerExcellent analytical skills with ability to review complex processes and controlsExcellent written and oral communication and influence skillsAbility to create, compute, analyze and interpret dataAbility to work independently
