Summary/Objective: The Back Office Medical Assistant, holding a valid Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license, plays a crucial role in assisting healthcare providers (Physicians, Physician Assistants, or Nurse Practitioners) during patient examinations and treatments in a clinical setting.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Welcome patients and prepare them for healthcare visits by placing them in exam rooms, obtaining medical history, and verifying patient information.Document a full and accurate set of vital signs.Populate all sections of the electronic medical record, including allergies, medications, vaccines, social history, and quality tab.Assist providers during examination and treatment, performing point-of-care tests within the scope of LPN licensure and state regulations.Maintain supplies in storage areas and exam rooms.Disinfect and clean treatment rooms following patient examinations; adhere to established standards and procedures to maintain a safe and healthy work environment.Conduct business in a service-oriented manner, demonstrating attentiveness, cooperation, sensitivity, and respect towards patients, visitors, and colleagues.Responsible for pre-visit planning following standard operating procedure guidelines.Maintain logs and perform required checks (e.g., refrigerator temperatures, emergency medications, expired medications, oxygen, etc.).Address voicemails multiple times during the working day.Address inbox messages (buckets) in the electronic medical record for providers, provider staff, and self.Serve as a backup for front office tasks when needed, including check-in, check-out, appointment scheduling, and answering phones.Maintain a professional working relationship with vendors supporting the practice.Follow HIPAA guidelines for all internal and external systems.Communicate appropriately with awareness of surroundings and audience.Attend trainings and meetings as required.

Minimum Education and Experience:High School Diploma or GED required.Graduate of an accredited healthcare program LPN program and current license with Colorado. Maintain certifications per state guidelines.Strong computer skills required; EMR experience preferred.Current BLS card.

Preferred Education/Experience:1-3 years of experience in Family or Pediatrics.Experience with Athenahealth practice management system.

Supervisory Responsibility: This position has no supervision responsibilities.

Job Elements and Working Conditions:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, use hands to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear.Occasionally required to walk, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.Frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 25 pounds.Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

Salary: $21 - $27 / hour
