📋 Role Overview & Responsibilities
Ontogen Medtech seeks a Senior Electrical / Firmware Engineer to join its product development team to assist with activities related to the design, development, and production of innovative medical device products in Chicagoland, IL. This position requires a creative mind and an ability to transform abstract concepts and design challenges into viable product designs.
Responsibilities:product conceptualization and designCircuit design and simulationPCB layout and schematic generationFirmware coding and debugging for new product concepts and designsintellectual property developmentproof of concept hands-on prototype fabricationdesign and creation of new test methods and fixturesDHF documentation preparationdrafting and executing test protocolsconducting prototype testsgathering, organizing, and reporting test dataregulatory submission preparationdocumenting official proceduresfrequent interaction with vendors and suppliers to ensure timely completion of deliverablesany other responsibilities assigned by Management.
Minimum Qualifications:BS in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent5+ years industry experience (non-academic)Demonstrated proficiency in PCB layout and circuit design tools and conceptsDemonstrated aptitude in creative electrical design solutions to abstract problemsDemonstrated experience generating product ideas and developing through to productionExperience with medical device development and FDA quality practices and standards, including ISO 13485;Experience navigating intellectual property, patent claims, freedom-to-operate, etc.Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervisionExcellent oral and written communication skills, particularly in technical writing and documentationDemonstrated organizational, interpersonal, and critical thinking skills.
Desirable Qualifications:MS in Engineering5+ years Medical Device R&D experiencePrior experience working in a fast-paced medtech startup environmentExperience and familiarity with IEC 60601Experience and familiarity with IEC 62304
