Engineering Inspector II-($1,000 Sign-On Incentive)

Overview

This is technical and / or supervisory work performed in the field.

Representative Duties

Inspects materials and workmanship for new residential, commercial, and industrial development paving and stormwater drainage construction to assure compliance with approved plans and specifications.

Inspects trenching, backfilling and restoration for the construction of underground utilities to assure compliance with approved plans and Orange County regulations.

Inspects paving, drainage, utility line installation and irrigation line installation within the right-of-way to assure compliance with approved plans and Orange County regulations.

Ensures public safety and traffic management at construction sites.

Maintains daily diary of project activities.

Reviews/interprets construction plans for compliance with approved plans, specifications, standards and regulations.

Identifies potential construction errors, conflicts and regulatory violations and recommends appropriate corrective actions.

Receives and responds to public inquiries and complaints.

Receives, reviews, prepares and/or submits various records and reports including engineering drawings, lab reports, photographs, agreements, permits, certifications, violation notices, certificates of completion, technical reports, development status report, project diary, memos and correspondence.

Inspects borrow pits daily to ensure compliance with approved plans, specifications, standards and regulations.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from high school or equivalent and four years of appropriate engineering experience based on area of assignment; or An equivalent combination of relevant education or experience on a year for year basis.

Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License and obtain a Florida Driver's License by date of hire.

Depending on area of assignment, must have satisfactorily completed the Contractor's Underground Utility Examination for inspectors or must complete within six months of entry into the position.

Must have the ability to communicate with the general public while discussing, explaining and interpreting standards and codes.

Salary

$21.85 to $28.41 based on qualifications.

Educational Requirements
