Field Instructor
📋 Role Overview & Responsibilities
We are currently seeking experienced outdoor leaders to lead and participate in our 2024 trip season starting immediately. Summer trips will include overnights, day hikes, and extended expeditions.
ResponsibilitiesField instructors are responsible for every aspect of trip planning and execution. They scout locations, plan courses and activities, meet with youth and parents, maintain gear and supervise gear lending, plan and purchase meals for trips. Field instructors review medical authorizations, attend to compliance, and interact with parents regarding food allergies and other issues. In the field, instructors build community with youth through team-building activities and individual relationship-building; they empower youth to set-up camp, cook in the outdoors, assume various roles, and take turns leading activities. Instructors appropriately relate to youth and help them engage deeply with the outdoors, communicate with one another, and challenge themselves physically, emotionally, and intellectually. Between courses, instructors work together to brief and debrief trips, examine feedback from participants, maintain gear, and work to improve curriculum.

Pay rates: $160-$250 daily with full-time work available June - August
