📋 Role Overview & Responsibilities
We are recruiting an Accountant for a thriving non-profit organization in downtown Sacramento. This is an onsite contract role and opportunity to work with an amazing company that supports local community-based programs. The Accountant will perform technical and professional accounting functions in the analysis, interpretation, recording and reporting of the company’s financial transactions. Pay: $32.95/hour.
The ideal candidate will have two years of accounting experience, including financial reporting, and strong technical skills.
RESPONSIBILITIES:Generate and distribute monthly financial reports and review with staffDownload IFAS data to spreadsheetsPrepare and update spreadsheet reportsPrepare financial portion of grant applicationsPrepare budgets, financial statements and related schedules for HUD, enterprise funds and HCD grantsPrepare quarterly and semi-annual financial reports for HUD grants and Federal Cash TransactionsPrepare annual state financial reportReview financial data to check for posting and reporting errorsCheck balance sheet accounts, revenues and expenditures for accuracy and reasonablenessInvestigate discrepancies in journal entries and correct as neededAssist with compilation of company budgetGather data to help project current revenue, expenses, and year-end fund balances
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:4-year degree required in Accounting, Finance or Business concentration.Intermediate Excel skills required.Experience with financial modeling to support forecasting, budgeting, and strategic planning.Basic understanding of real estate accounting. Experience working with multifamily, and/or mixed-use projects a plus.Knowledge of basic accounting principles, including generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).Strong verbal and written communications skills.
