📋 Role Overview & Responsibilities
Downtown Houston Law Firm specializing in full-service legal support to business clients is seeking LEGAL SECRETARY – Litigation.
Primary duties: Docketing and scheduling (calendaring deadlines, hearings, mediations, depositions, and conference calls); e-filing; initial drafting of basic pleadings from firm forms (petitions, answers, motions, responses, hearing notices, deposition notices, etc.); creation of charts and outlines; communicating with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel.
Qualifications: 3+ years of experience as a Litigation Legal Assistant/Secretary (with at least one year of Texas litigation and e-filing experience); working knowledge of current TRCP; exceptional organizational and communication skills; computer savvy – proficiency in MS Office and ability to learn firm software (ActionStep); willingness to follow up with attorneys to ensure deadlines are met.
Compensation: $55,000 - $65,000, depending on experience. Additional benefits include: 100% payment of employee health insurance premium, optional dental insurance (premium paid by employee), PTO, free parking, matching IRA benefits (after 2nd year), and performance based bonus.
Job Type: Full-time, in the Firm’s downtown Houston office.
