We are looking for someone to join our team as a Handyman who performs a variety of semi-skilled construction, maintenance, modifications and repair activities in assigned areas which may include landscape and facilities, and performs related work as required.

Location: In-Person, Port Hueneme, California

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Duties may include but are not limited to the following

Ensures that the facility grounds are maintained in a manner designed to provide safe access to, in, and around the facility, and a safe environment for clients, employees and visitorsEnsures that all buildings and their contents, including furniture, appliances, and program materials are maintained in good repairIn collaboration with the Safety officer, ensures that the facility policy on distribution of services in implemented when indicatedDemonstrates compliance with all policies and procedures related to the environment of careNotifies the Administrator of facility problemsParticipates in establishing and maintaining a social and physical environment that supports the facilities mission and standards of conduct/code of ethicsMakes recommendations to improve facility cleanliness, safety, and security policies and proceduresParticipates in emergency preparedness drillsAssists with keeping the facility clean and orderlyOther duties as assigned

Physical Demands:Stand and walk continuouslyAbility to reach above, at, or below waist heightAbility to kneel, bend, stoop, turn, and twistAbility to hear well enough to detect noise, discern sounds, and understand speechAbility to discern odorsAbility to frequently lift and carry up to 10lbs.; occasionally 20-50lbs.Ability to frequently push/pull wheeled carts weighing from 100-200lbs.Ability to manipulate large and small tools frequentlyAbility to work outside in temperatures from 30 degrees F. 110 degrees F occasionallyWork Environment:Ability to work at a fast pace and tolerate a variety of repetitive tasksAbility to work in an environment where noise levels varyTasks may involve exposure to blood, bodily fluids, infectious materials, and/or hazardous materials

Competencies

Education/Experience

High School diploma preferredMinimum of 2 years experience in maintenance and/or construction, preferably in service related industry.Must be fluent in English, both written and verbal; bilingual desirableKnowledge of OSHA and regulatory safety helpfulValid California Driver License with good driving record (in Company's sole discretion) required

This is a safety-sensitive positionThis position requires regular local travel among company locations.Must satisfy post-offer, pre-employment conditions such as tuberculosis screening (annually thereafter), background check (including criminal and driving record check), drug screening, reference check. Ongoing monitoring and screenings during employment in accordance with law and company policy.
