Human Resources Intern

While primarily a Human Resources internship, this is a shared internship with Finance. This intern will assist the Human Resources Manager in several facets of the Human Resources field, as well as assisting the Finance department with AP/AR from time to time. This is a part-time, paid internship, averaging about 20 hours/wk. This position has the potential to change from a seasonal internship to a continued part-time job. Possible areas covered in this internship include:

• Onboarding – Starting with posting jobs and reviewing applications and going through the employee’s first week.• Offboarding – Reviewing the disciplinary process, handling documentation, sending termination notices, and responding to unemployment claims.• Data Management – Reviewing employee files, gathering missing information, handling I-9 forms, and much more.• Compliance – Assist with DOT driver files to ensure compliance with the FMCSA, review company handbooks to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws, and prepare documentation for EEO filings• Payroll – Process payroll, enter payroll into accounting software, allocating payroll to correct job costing classes, monthly worker’s comp entries/payments, acquiring tax IDs for new jurisdictions as needed, etc.• Benefits – Help new employees get enrolled in benefit plans, reconcile monthly bills with employee deductions, answer employee questions regarding employee benefits• Compensation – Help in reviewing/revising job descriptions, assist with compensation analysis, use comp analysis to set salary bands, ensure we’re meeting all required pay transparency requirements• Misc. – Assist with scanning employee documents into their e-file to reduce paper storage, work on employee recognition program, other general office duties• AP/AR – Assist finance with accounts payable and accounts receivable

PCCI Group started as Perley Cable Construction in 1981 providing construction services to telecommunications companies across the US. In 1989 the owner added to his business, creating a local telecom company called Tel-Star Communications (then called Tel-Star Cablevision). Tel-Star is a local telecom company providing cable, internet, and phone services to underserved rural areas. Then, in 1993, we added ProDesign Engineering to our group. ProDesign maps and designs telecom networks, not only for our own telecom companies, but for different telecom providers across the United States. Finally, in 2019, we added i5 Fiber – a local fiber optic internet provider in Bonita Springs, FL. Perley Cable Construction currently has projects in Galesburg and in Punta Gorda, FL. Tel-Star is in the process of upgrading our network from coaxial service to fiber optics. ProDesign has had field crews in Michigan, Wisconsin, Louisianna, Texas, Florida, and Colorado over the last couple of years mapping telecom networks for our clients. i5 Fiber is still building their network throughout Bonita Springs as they continue to grow.
