Your Impact

The Renewables Field Service Technician, Level II in the PEARCE Renewables Division performs tasks involving physical labor at Solar Energy sites and Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Stations near Buffalo, NY. The Renewables Field Service Technician is responsible for the operation and maintenance (O&M) of solar power plants & EV charging stations in accordance with established preventative and corrective maintenance standards while always maintaining safety and professionalism.

Core Responsibilities (Solar Operations & Maintenance Field Service Technician)

Conduct preventative and corrective maintenance of equipment.Responsible for documentation including, but not limited to, work orders, time logs, inventory control, and emergency information schedules.Provide a working knowledge of troubleshooting electrical components with help and use of digital multi-meters, meggers, amp clamps, and similar equipment.Testing/troubleshooting installed equipment and ensuring proper working order.Must have a strong safety background with experience in Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) and Job Hazard Analysis (JHA).Able work in a solo as well as a group environment.Operate and maintain a motor vehicle safely and legally per the PEARCE Renewables Employee Handbook and insurance requirements.

Core Responsibilities (EV Charging Field Technician)

Perform OEM testing, troubleshooting, repairs, and upgrades/revisions to a broad range of equipment, ranging from Level 2 Electric Vehicle (EV) chargers to DC Fast Chargers.Perform testing on equipment, including but not limited to; insulation testing (megger testing), thermal imagery, torque tests, and performance evaluations.Troubleshoot system performance issues and locate/isolate ground faults.Work closely with the Planning and Scheduling team to ensure maintenance schedules are adhered to and work orders are completed accurately and on time.Review site manuals and drawings to ensure proper service and maintenance of equipment.Document all fieldwork including electrical and mechanical preventative and corrective maintenance of site equipment, site field reporting, work order completion, and other work as needed.

Specific duties may vary or evolve over time based on business and client needs.

Core Experience

2+ years’ equivalent experience in servicing electrical power equipment in the commercial or utility energy field and/or formal electrical training.Strong electrical, electronic, and mechanical troubleshooting skills.Technical knowledge of Electric Vehicle (EV) chargers, solar power installations, or other applicable power electronics is preferred, but not required.Experience using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to generate, track, and complete site work requirements.Strong Microsoft Office skills.Takes initiative to escalate issues at site.Ability to train, mentor, and develop laborers into Apprentices.High aptitude and a strong work ethic are a must.

Physical/Work Environment

Must live within approximately 50 miles of Buffalo, NY.This role requires working in all elements, depending on job location, time of year, heat, cold, rain & snow (depending on geographic region for the role).Working around high voltages and currents.Wear personal protective equipment (PPE), always including a hard hat and safety glasses.Repetitive use of legs, arms, hands, and fingers.Conduct site safety assessments and identify all safety hazards on the job site, properly generate and complete JHA, Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO), and other safety-related documentation as per OSHA and site-specific requirements.Lift and move equipment as needed (up to 50 pounds).Employment may require working on weekends and holidays, including an "on call" service availability via telephone/text message.Travel requirements are dependent on support of the company (up to 20% travel).

Compensation: $32.00-$35.00 hourly/DOE
