📋 Role Overview & Responsibilities
Our Veterinary Assistants are a highly valued part of our team and are essential to the success of our hospital. Veterinary Assistants work side by side with our technicians and doctors in all areas of patient care. This role includes cross training in the Client Service Representative role as well. Our ideal candidate is a self-starter, interested in growth and development in veterinary medicine, and enjoys collaborating with a team. Schedule will include some evenings and Saturdays.
Tasks include but are not limited to
Triage patients, perform treatments, and administer medication as directed by the veterinary technicians and doctors; maintain accurate medical records. Assist doctors and technicians with the administration of medications or with patient restraint. Perform laboratory tests and take radiographs. Operate and maintain hospital equipment. Fill prescriptions, maintain proper documentation, logging, and security of medications. Maintain the cleanliness of the hospital each day; clean equipment, kennels and facilities using chemicals and supplies; ensure the safe use of chemicals; complete laundry.
