Software Engineer - Video and Audio Editor

At Pipio, we’re building a platform that allows video content creators the ability to connect and engage with their audiences with the power of AI. We’re a seed-funded, early stage startup on a mission to provide our users with access to AI-powered, digital actors (including their own) and the ability to generate their on-screen performances in minutes. From facial expression control to language dubbing, creators can now shoot, edit, and launch engaging videos featuring themselves or others in near real time. We’re seeking a talented and experienced Senior Software Engineer to join our growing team at Pipio. You’ll play a key role in developing and maintaining the video creation technologies that enable creators to easily capture, edit and publish engaging videos through the power of artificial intelligence. Our platform involves camera capture, video import, non-linear editing, audio and video processing, rendering, encoding and much more. You will work closely with our cross-functional team of ML research engineers, designers, and product management throughout the entire development lifecycle to deliver high-quality, scalable solutions that empower our users to create amazing video content for their audience.

What You’ll Be Doing:Building and improving our suite of audio and video editing tools for all content types (AI avatars, video dubbing, personalized video, etc.)Developing innovative camera and editing features that enable Pipio’s users to generate AI-powered video contentResearching new and emerging technologies and how to apply them to the video creation and editing processBuilding and optimizing server-side components using Node.js and integrating with MongoDB for high-performance applicationsCollaborating with product management, designers, R&D, and other the rest of the engineering team to understand requirements and translate them into technical specifications and implementation plansImplementing RESTful APIs and ensure seamless communication between the frontend and backend.Designing and implementing MongoDB database schemas, ensuring efficient data storage and retrieval.Optimizing application performance, scalability, and security to ensure a seamless user experience and reliable platform operation

We’d love to hear from you if you have:Experience with web-based video editing libraries and APIs like FFmpeg, Video.js, OpenCVA strong understanding of video codecs, encoding/decoding, streaming protocols, and multimedia file formats (e.g., MP4, WebM)A desire to solve hard problems, video editing in the browser is hard and requires going deep on technical problems to find creative and innovative solutionsStrong skills in Typescript and JavascriptProficiency in Angular for frontend developmentStrong backend development skills using Node.jsExperience with MongoDB or similar NoSQL databasesExcellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

It'd be particularly awesome if you have:Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related fieldExperience and/or domain knowledge in machine learning, visual computing, and/or digital avatarsExperience working with web-based video editing and graphics tools and technologies, like HTML Video, Web Audio APIs, GLSL / WebGL, WebRTCPrevious experience working in a startup environments
