📋 Role Overview & Responsibilities
ControllerPorter Group, LLC (Porter Group) is a bipartisan federal government affairs and business consulting firm led by former U.S. Congressman Jon Porter. Job Summary and Key Objectives: The Controller is responsible for administration of financial data and compliance of Porter Group by maintaining accurate books on accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and financial entries and reconciliations. The Controller will work directly with Porter Group leadership to determine and maintain budgets for all facets of the Porter Group operation.
Key Responsibilities and Tasks: ● Coordinate Porter Group’s financial planning and budget management functions. ● Oversee organization budget and financial transactions, including payroll, payroll tax returns, payroll tax deposits, AP/AR, and analyze/identify opportunities to achieve greater financial efficiencies and internal control processes. ● Ensure Porter Group’s accounting procedures conform to generally accepted accounting principles and proper accounting controls are maintained. ● Meet with Porter Group leadership as needed to track budget progress and review month-end financials. ● Oversee the annual audit and filing of the organization’s 1120-S income tax return and ensure legal compliance of all financial activities. ● Ensure compliance related to political activity including lobbying disclosures, financial disclosures and political contribution reporting● Maintain appropriate insurance and multi state and municipality business licenses for Porter Group ● Manage PORTER 401k and employee benefits packages for employees located in multiple states including but not limited to health insurance ● Review and keep up to date all finance policies and procedures for Porter Group
Desired Skills of the Controller: ● Extensive knowledge of the principles, practices and procedures of accounting, finance, budgeting and planning for organization with political activity ● Must be a strategic thinker with the ability to conceptualize and act upon PORTER’s financial objectives and operationalize these objectives● Must be adept at the use of QuickBooks Online and other relevant accounting software● Demonstrate knowledge of laws, procedures, regulations, and best practices relating to accounting practices and financial reporting relevant to Porter Group● Ability to exercise considerable judgment and discretion in establishing and maintaining confidentiality and good working relationships with shareholders● Excellent attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple competing priorities● Excellent computer skills and working knowledge of Office 365 products (Word, Excel, Onedrive, and Outlook)● Self-starter with excellent follow-through with the ability to work with minimal supervision
Qualifications: ● Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or related field. ● Financial management experience, including preferably including political activity ● Experience working in an office is a plus ● Familiarity with computer-based applications including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, QuickBooks Online, OneDrive and Outlook

Salary Range: $100,000-120,000 dependent upon experience
