Duties and Responsibilities As a leading member of our tax services team, a Tax Manager will perform a variety of general accounting tasks including the review of individual and business tax returns, various financial reporting, quarterly payroll, and sales tax returns. The Tax Manager will act as the primary point of contact and daily liaison for all clients. They will apply their industry knowledge and experience to the following:
Tax Return Preparation & Review:• Oversee the preparation and serve as the Reviewer for Federal, State, and local tax returns for diverse businesses, organizations, and individuals, ensuring compliance with all relevant tax codes and regulations.
Advanced Tax Strategy Development & Proactive Tax Expertise:• Offer proactive and tailored tax planning, consulting, and compliance solutions directly to clients, leveraging comprehensive expertise to optimize their financial positions.• Demonstrate mastery in the preparation and review of complex tax returns for businesses, organizations, and individuals, ensuring strict adherence to all tax laws and regulations.• Strategically develop and implement comprehensive tax plans for a diverse clientele, optimizing tax efficiency and compliance with Federal, State, and local tax regulations.
Client Engagement & Project Oversight:• Foster & maintain meaningful client relationships by serving as the primary point person for the client. • Provide personalized consultation, actively managing their tax needs, and providing strategic guidance on tax matters through direct, one-on-one interactions.• Prepare and review invoices, and ensure timely delivery to clients.• Maintain transparent communication with team members by promptly updating Partners and delegates on project progress.• Collaborate effectively with upper-level management to address client-related issues, including accounts receivable matters, demonstrating a commitment to exceptional client service.
Mentorship & Talent Development:• Provide oversight and leadership to a team of tax professionals, ensuring the successful execution of client projects while upholding the highest standards of technical accuracy and timeliness. Assist in their training and development.• Foster a culture of growth and excellence by providing guidance, mentorship, and training to team members. Offer constructive feedback and support their professional development.Financial Analysis Expertise:• Conduct in-depth financial analysis, including intricate financial statement evaluations, and orchestrate meticulous month-end and year-end closing procedures to maintain financial data integrity.
Strategic Tax Research and Planning:• Stay at the forefront of tax law developments, conducting in-depth research to address complex client queries and identify innovative tax-saving opportunities.Advanced Bookkeeping and Analysis:• Oversee the Execution and review of mid/high-level bookkeeping functions, including in-depth financial statement analysis and oversight of month-end and year-end closings. Review and supervise the work of team members on the same.
Deadline & Workflow Management:• Efficiently manage project deadlines and track critical timelines to ensure on-time delivery, compliance and avoid potential penalties.• Deliver technically precise work within established timelines, upholding a commitment to accuracy and reliability in all tasks.
Industry Engagement & Networking:• Stay current with industry trends and best practices through active participation in professional organizations, continuous education, and networking within the tax community.
Workflow & Process Enhancement:• Propose innovative suggestions to enhance internal controls and streamline processes, and workflows to optimize operational efficiency within the firm and drive exceptional client service.
Skills/Qualifications:• A bachelor’s degree in accounting is required. A master’s degree in accounting with a CPA license (accredited or currently in-progress) a strong plus. • Prior Tax preparation and Review experience is a must. Experience with CCH ProSystem is a plus but not required. • Experience handling one-on-one client interaction and communication required. • Strong organizational skills. High attention to detail with an ability to multi-task. Sound quantitative and analytical capabilities.• Excellent communication skills.• A reliable team player and a solid professional, who can apply a “hands on” work style.• General computer proficiency including an overall grasp of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.). • Knowledge of QuickBooks accounting software a plus.
