Duties and Responsibilities As a leading member of our tax services team, a Tax Supervisor will perform a variety of general accounting tasks including the preparation/review of individual and business tax returns, various financial reporting, quarterly payroll, and sales tax returns. They will apply their industry knowledge and experience to the following:
Tax Return Preparation & Review:• Prepare and Review Federal, State, and local tax returns for diverse businesses, organizations, and individuals, ensuring compliance with all relevant tax codes and regulations.
Client Engagement:• Cultivate meaningful client relationships through direct, one-on-one interactions, efficiently managing multiple client projects.• Participate in and play an active role in the invoicing and AR process.
Proactive Tax Expertise:• Offer proactive and tailored tax planning, consulting, and compliance solutions directly to clients, leveraging comprehensive expertise to optimize their financial positions.
Financial Data & Analysis:• Identify and rectify inconsistencies and errors in financial records, documents, and reports. Investigate any data anomalies and recommend appropriate actions to resolve discrepancies.
Project Oversight & Deadline Management:• Skillfully manage critical deadlines, including customer reporting requirements, to ensure compliance and avoid potential penalties.• Maintain transparent communication with team members by promptly updating delegators on project progress.• Deliver technically precise work within established timelines, upholding a commitment to accuracy and reliability in all tasks.
Advanced Bookkeeping and Analysis:• Execute mid/high-level bookkeeping functions, including in-depth financial statement analysis and oversight of month-end and year-end closings. Review and supervise the work of team members on the same.
Tax Research and Planning:• Conduct comprehensive tax research, provide valuable insights into tax planning, and stay abreast of evolving tax laws to identify potential savings opportunities for clients.
Continuous Learning & Industry Engagement:• Maintain up-to-date industry knowledge by actively pursuing educational opportunities, such as studying professional publications, nurturing personal networks, and participating in relevant professional organizations.
Collaboration with Leadership & Team Development• Collaborate effectively with upper-level management to address client-related issues, including accounts receivable matters, demonstrating a commitment to exceptional client service.• Offer constructive feedback and mentorship to delegatees, contributing to their growth and motivation. Assist in their training and development.
Workflow & Process Improvement:• Propose innovative suggestions to enhance internal controls and streamline processes, driving efficiency and effectiveness within the firm.
Skills/Qualifications • A bachelor’s degree in accounting is required. A master’s degree in accounting with a CPA license (accredited or currently in-progress) a strong plus. • Prior Tax preparation experience is a must. Experience with CCH ProSystem is a plus but not required. • Experience handling one-on-one client interaction and communication preferred. • Strong organizational skills. High attention to detail with an ability to multi-task. Sound quantitative and analytical capabilities.• Excellent communication skills.• A reliable team player and a solid professional, who can apply a “hands on” work style.• General computer proficiency including an overall grasp of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.). • Knowledge of QuickBooks accounting software a plus.
