📋 Role Overview & Responsibilities
Overview: The NIEHS is seeking a skilled individual to join our team as a Data Scientist focusing on processing, integrating, and analyzing climate and health-related datasets. This role involves developing, testing, and executing software and data pipelines to handle diverse data formats, link datasets with varying spatial and temporal dimensions, and manage large and complex datasets. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with experts in data science, geospatial methods, statistics, and biomedical research to address complex real-world problems.
Responsibilities:Develop, test, and execute software and data pipelines for processing, transforming, integrating, and analyzing climate and health-related datasets.Work closely with experts in data science, geospatial methods, statistics, and biomedical research to develop creative solutions to complex real-world problems.Conceive and create data processing pipelines for efficient movement, pre-processing, and visualization of data.Collaborate with staff to develop, test, refine, and apply advanced statistical and computational methods.Document programming problems and resolutions for future reference.Troubleshoot deployments, image builds, scripts, and programs to ensure successful use.Provide support for development of methods in data science and statistical analysis.Implement improvements to development activities to speed up the development of applications, databases, or software tools.
Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Biology, Computer Science, Statistics and Decision Science, or related field.Proficiency in R, Python, Linux, Shiny, and HTML.Strong skills in data processing, integration, scientific data analysis, machine learning, and data visualization.Experience in developing scientific applications using R, Shiny, and/or Python.Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
