Studio Assistant -- Contract Work on Tuesdays

Freelance Studio Assistant

This is a contract work, infrequent, role to help at a floral design studio during Wedding Season. This job works well for someone with a flexible schedule looking for occasional side-hussle style work where we send you available dates and you let us know if you can work the available shift on-site at our studio in Denver, ColoradoMost available shifts are on Tuesdays and occasionally weekend wedding sets. Expect about 2-3 shifts per month at the beginning of wedding season, with an increase in opportunity during the month of September. The following dates are blackout dates required to be considered: August 27, September 10, October 1 Scheduling will be on a best-fit basis. We will work with you to create a schedule after the first few times we have had you in the studio to see if we are a good fit together. There will be weeks we need only one studio assistant and weeks that we will need a few. We will work to distribute opportunities, committing to one or two studio assistants that are hard workers and a good culture fit. This is not an internship. We do not guarantee floral design training. This is a paid position at $18.29/hour. Wedding season this year is heaviest June - October Tuesdays: Processing DayWe get our flowers delivered in boxes; Studio Assistants will work to process flowers by removing plastic sleeves, leaves, thorns and freshly cutting flowers to be stored in our cooler. Studio assistants are in charge of using our “recipes” to distribute individual flower stems for specific projects for our design team to be able to quickly design during the week. After flowers are processed, Studio Assistants will have the opportunity to help prepare hard-goods including cleaning and preparing candles, bouquet-vases, and other studio prep projects. Weekend: Wedding set day (usually Saturday, occasionally Friday or Sunday):After your first few Tuesday shifts, we will identify if you are a good candidate for training to become an Event Floral Assistant. Events are usually but not always on Saturdays. On events, you will be able to see the full event come together and participate in the production of the final event. Strikes: (Night-time Clean-up):NOT REQUIRED, It will be available to you to cross-train to do strikes, or event clean-ups. These short, fast-paced nighttime clean-ups can be a fun way to access leftover flowers and experience more of the event industry start to finish. Night shifts are still contract work and have a higher hourly rate.
