Data Governance and Privacy Implementation Specialist

Our client is looking for a skilled Data Governance and Privacy professional that can fill a pivotal role in their IT organization. This person will work closely with development teams to ensure Privacy by Design principles are applied during the development of products/services. Furthermore, they will be experts in understanding the flow of data and ensuring that products meet data privacy standards defined by privacy analysts. Lastly, this specialist will be involved in the implementation of a new Data Privacy Catalog, Alation.

Role & ResponsibilitiesProvide subject matter expertise on privacy and data protection to help incorporate privacy-by-design into processes, critical projects and initiatives.Assist with the build-out of client’s asset and data inventoryBe a primary point of contact for assigned organizations, providing advice and guidance around the collection, handling, sharing and retaining personal data of guests and employees.Assist with the implementation of Alation Data Catalog.Provide training and awareness activities as needed.Remain accountable for assigned work and meet milestones via Azure Dev Ops and monthly business reviews.Keep abreast of current developments in privacy laws, regulations and industry standards.Collect customer satisfaction and internal service performance feedback to foster continual improvement.Administer and manage the Third-Party Risk Assessment process within our privacy management software platform.Support the internal team to further the completion of assessments, reviews and ensures processes are executed and questions are addressed within a defined cadence.Provide program and project support, including the development and maintenance of program(s) metrics and reporting.Partner with the departments to further implement the data privacy, data retention, and data compliance standards.Assists in the design, testing, implementation, enforcement and monitoring of data privacy standards and controls.Engages with cross-functional stakeholders to embrace and champion an enterprise-wide culture, where data is deemed an enterprise asset and data compliance is seamlessly incorporated across the organization.Demonstrates ability to interpret internally provided guidance to recommend best-practices to ensure data compliancy in products and systems.Posses and maintains subject matter expertise of global and local privacy matters such as GLBA, GDPR, CCPA, etc., and assists in enterprise-wide educational efforts.

Required Qualifications3-5 years of working experience in the field of data governance, privacy, information security, or risk management.Hands-on experience with SDLC methodologies and experience working with development/IT teams to build products with a privacy focus.Strong understanding of Privacy by Design principles.In depth knowledge of Data Diagrams and understanding of how data flows between sources, systems, etc.Working knowledge of current international, federal, and state privacy laws and regulations and skills in researching international, federal, and state laws, rules, and regulations.Demonstrates both collaborative skills and ability to work well within a team, while completing tasks and projects autonomously.Ability to self-organize, prioritize, and identify new work.Strong analytical, interpersonal, problem-solving, organizational and presentations skills.Strong verbal and written communication skills.Self-motivated with critical attention to detail and deadlines.High ethical standards.Accounts for sensitivity and privacy of confidential information.Industry recognized privacy certification: Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP), Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM), EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) Practitioner, Certified Data Privacy Professional (CDPP)

Desired QualificationsExperience implementing Data Catalogs/Governance tools such as Alation.Experience in regulated industries.
