Our Business

Prudential’s Group Insurance business manufactures and distributes a full range of group life, long-term and short-term group disability, supplemental health, and group corporate, bank and trust owned life insurance in the U.S., primarily to institutional clients for use in connection with employee and membership benefits plans. Group Insurance also sells accidental death and dismemberment and other ancillary coverages and provides plan administrative services in connection with its insurance coverages. The Group Insurance business is undergoing a transformation which includes expanding product offerings and driving sustainable, profitable growth.

Our Role

As a member of a first-line operational risk management team within a business unit, the Director of Operational Risk Management will be responsible for providing direction to the business unit in developing and maintaining an effective and efficient risk management program. Efforts are geared toward ensuring that operational risks when weighed against business opportunities are well managed and acceptable. This role will report directly to the Head of Risk Management, Group Insurance.

The current EWA for this position is Hybrid and requires your on-site presence on a reoccurring basis as determined by your business. Your manager will provide additional details relative to the specific number of days you are expected to be on-site.

What you can expect

Promotes and builds strong risk management culture in Group Insurance through strong engagement and relationship building with senior managementResponsibilities include resolving challenging, sensitive, and/or urgent risk issuesProviding Operational Risk support and advice to business partners, including facilitating assessments of strategic initiatives and ensuring appropriate controls are implementedApplies sound judgment in the evaluation of risks and controls. Effectively challenges adequacy of controls. Advises Group Insurance on the development and implementation of action plans to address control gapsProactively partners with Risk Management counterparts to identify risk management processes with enterprise-wide implications and effective methods to evaluate control effectivenessAssists senior leaders with preparation of materials for Operational Risk CommitteesReviews key indicators and assists the in the early identification of trends and recommend opportunities for effectiveness and efficiencies.

5-7 years of risk management, audit, or similar business control experienceSuperior relationship management skills with the ability to partner and build professional relationships in a cross-functional environmentWorks independently and delivers high quality outputsProactive, driven professional with the ability to operate effectively from the conceptual stage through to successful implementationClear and effective writing skillsUses strong influencing skills to achieve objectivesAdaptability and flexibility to work effectively with a diverse portfolio of people, processes and functions

The salary range for this role is from $137,700.00 to $186,300.00. Specific pricing for the role may vary within the above range based on many factors including geographic location, candidate experience, and skills. Roles may also be eligible for additional compensation and/or benefits. Eligibility to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program is subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance. In addition, employees are eligible for standard benefits package including paid time off, medical, dental and retirement.
