Pre-Delivery Inspector (PDI)

Summary: Performs final inspection procedures on Putzmeister products prior to delivery to the customer. Will also verify completion of all re-work prior to final approval.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Inspect all newly manufactured Concrete Pumps, Telebelt, Thom-Katt, and Mortars machines following specific guidelines.Identifies defects and submits to CWA listing the appropriate manufacturing personnel for rework.Communicate with Production, Sales & Engineering.Weighs and road tests truck-mounted machines.Assists the Marketing Department with photo shoots of customer products.Ensures the work area is orderly, clean, and safe daily.Uses CWA for all PDI checklists and defect entries. Take photos of all finished machines and enter them into SharePoint. Scan PEK documentation into SAP.Box remotes and Manuals.Maintains Putzmeister America’s high standards of quality.Performs additional duties as assigned or directed.

Education/Certification/training:High school diploma or equivalent.CDL class B is a must retain or be willing to obtain.

Professional knowledge and expertise required

A minimum of three (3) years of manufacturing, mechanical, or inspection experience. Knowledgeable regarding inspection techniques and experienced in the use of equipment such as tachometers and tape measures. Must be able to operate and complete all Putzmeister equipment. High standard of attention to detail.

Language Ability

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Math Ability

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers. Understands the metric system of measurement.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Must be extremely detailed when describing defects.

Computer Skills

Must be capable of looking up sales order information in the SAP database. Able to send and receive e-mail with attachments. Be able to enter data into CWA. Able to use “share point” for uploading photos. Experience with Excel is preferred.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical tools, fumes, or airborne particles. And is occasionally exposed to wet or humid conditions, high places, and risk of electrical shock and vibration.

Mandatory outside work in all weather conditions, including extreme hot and cold temperatures, rain, and snow.

The noise level in this environment is regularly loud.

Uniforms, steel-toe safety shoes, bump caps, and safety glasses/goggles must be worn at all times while in designated areas of the shop and yard.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, stoop, bend, and use hands to finger, handle , or touch; frequently required to push and pull.

Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; occasionally lift and/or move up to 70 pounds.
