Role
As an IT Director for the Pre-Trade team, you will lead and oversee IT operations related to algo trading and automated trading activities in the oil and gas sector, ensuring smooth system operations and developing innovative solutions to meet business needs.
Responsibilities
Supervise a team of IT engineers specializing in algo trading and automated trading.Define the technical vision and strategic objectives for the pre-trade team.Ensure effective collaboration with other departments, including finance and operations, to align business goals with technological initiatives.Monitor and maintain existing trading systems, ensuring high availability and optimal performance.Identify and implement process improvements to increase operational efficiency and reduce risks.Manage platform upgrades and migrations while minimizing service disruptions.Design and implement innovative solutions to enhance trading algorithms and automation capabilities.Utilize Python, SQL Server, C#, and other relevant technologies on Azure services.Implement messaging bus, communication network, and other infrastructure required for algorithmic trading.Stay updated with advancements in trading technology and leverage them to improve trading strategies and operations.Oversee the planning and execution of IT projects, ensuring adherence to deadlines and budgets.Evaluate resource and technology needs, and allocate resources effectively to achieve set goals.Supporting traders Provide regular reports on team progress and performance, offering recommendations for continuous improvement.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field. Additional qualification in finance or management would be advantageous.Proven experience (15+ years) in an IT leadership role, ideally in commodities trading or financial services.Strong understanding of financial markets, trading strategies, and derivative instruments, especially in the context of oil & gas.Proficiency in Python, SQL Server, C#, and Azure services.Experience with messaging bus and communication network technologies.Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a technical team, fostering a collaborative and results-oriented work environment.Experience within the trading floor, supporting traders
